This American live action movie that has been made with a hundred million US dollars plus budget is an adaptation of the popular “Dragon Ball media franchise”. Although the initial developments for the film began as early as the year 2002 when the 20th Century Fox were successful in attaining movie rights to the Dragon Ball franchise. However it’s shooting began almost five years later in the last month of the year 2007 in Mexico. The director for this movie is James Wong whereas the shoes of the producer have been filled by Stephen Chow. The movie has been scheduled for release on the 3rd of April in the year 2009. The main story of the film revolves around the character of “Goku”, played by actor Justin Chatwin, and his pursuit to attain the mystic Dragon balls before the villain of the movie named Lord Piccolo, played by James Marsters, does.


The movie features numerous special effects that have been handled and performed by Amalgamated Dynamics whereas the visual effects have been performed jointly by “Ollin Studios”, “Zoic Studios” and the “Imagine Engine”. The animated fight scenes, ki energy blasts, auras and the character Piccolo’s green skin has all been shown to perfection in the film. Ed French is the makeup artist who has done a splendid job with all the characters. The makeup for some characters took almost four hours for application and many characters experienced difficulty in breathing owing to heavy makeup. This is Goku

The locations that have been employed for the shooting of this movie are mainly Oriental, but in certain scenes show heavy Aztec influence as well. A very large part of this movie’s shooting took place in a deserted jeans factory in Mexico. The main movie was wrapped in March of this year and is now in the post-production stages.
Amongst the main characters the character of Goku is the most significant. This character has been played by Justin Chatwin. He plays the role of a dominant combatant who is on the mission to shield the Earth from a continual stream of villains who are hell bent on attaining dominance over the universe. The other significant lead character is named Lord Piccolo that has been played by James Marsters. He is the rogue of this film. It was later revealed that this particular character used to be a force of good but owing to an argument that led to his being sent to goal infuriated him. He becomes vindictive and revengeful against the inhabitants of Earth and becomes hell bent on its destruction.
As mentioned earlier 20th Century Fox has officially announced the movies release date. Initially it was scheduled for release all around the globe on the 15th of August this year but the release date was later postponed to the 3rd of April, next year. This was done owing to the competition that the film would have had to face had it been released on its initial release date this year.
